"Biomimicry: Accelerating Sustainable Technology"

Featured editorial exploring how QEERI and ThinQa unlock nature's 3.8 billion years of adaptations to solve extreme environment engineering, water harvesting, and additive manufacturing.

International Event
Feb 15–16, 2026

1st International Workshop on Biomimicry

Convened international researchers and industry leaders from QEERI, Leibniz-Institut, and Fusion Bionic in Doha, Qatar to establish standard frameworks for generative bio-inspired engineering.

About Our Mission

Nature has spent billions of years optimizing structures for maximum strength, thermal regulation, fluid dynamics, and material efficiency. However, conventional CAD tools were created for standard geometries like cylinders, cubes, and extrusions — making complex organic surfaces virtually impossible to model and manufacture efficiently.

ThinQa solves this translation bottleneck. By combining an extensive library of over 34,000 biological mechanisms with differentiable implicit modeling and voxelized geometry engines, ThinQa allows engineers to ask functional questions (such as "how does a bird wing reduce turbulence?") and receive clean, manifold, 3D-printable code.

Developed at QEERI · Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU)

Located in Education City, Doha, Qatar, the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI) conducts mission-driven scientific research in energy, water, environment, and advanced materials. ThinQa was conceived within QEERI's computational laboratories to empower global industrial and academic engineering.
